Fort Thomas, Kentucky has purchased two old corner gas stations for the purposes of turning each into pocket parks. We can do this too.

And yes, tear down that apartment complex and restore the character of the neighborhood.

Oh, yeah! I forgot about the Everyday store, which is now home to too many hoopdie-mobiles.

Since we're going to change the neighborhood, can we also make it crime to wear an oversized white t-shirt?

And reason, do you know what's up with the <s>miscreants</s> folks who hang on the big log on Virginia?

/end thread hijack.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">[resume thread hijack]I called the City weed control about the abandoned Everyday store. I was not the first. The first complaint came around July 8. Yes...July 8. It has to go through the proper channels, the owner of the property had to be notified and ignore the orders.

Now it has gone to the department that actually does the cleaning. I was told there were 1,000 such orders, and the time frame for clean up is unclear.[/end thread hijack]

Jump, if you feel the need to penalize new home builders/owners, you should start at less than 3,000 SF! Most new homes are between 1800-2500 SF. If you really want to make a difference, start at 1800!!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You want to make homes smaller? You want to prevent sprawl? Make land expensive.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Sell it to whomever you want, but only under guidelines stipulated by the government. I'm not an expert on this, but I'm sure there are ways to make land more costly to purchase.

If it would prevent the spread of high end trailer parks with their attendant stripmalls and overcongested, underplanned road system....I'm all for more gubmint control.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">But, how do you DO it?

Let's say that on the open market our yard here is worth $100, and your yard, since it's bigger, is worth $500.

In your view, does the gubmit come in and declare that our 4 blades of grass are suddenly worth $1000? Wouldn't that artifically inflating the cost of all property everywhere?

I completely understand what you're saying, Jumper. I just can't see it working
in the real world.

Now then, on the vehicles. Trav bought a truck because we need it to work on the house. I'm not sure of the mileage, but I know it's less than my car. However, when possible, he rides the bike to work, and I'm fairly sure the Victory gets better mileage than most cars.

If the truck is below the arbitrary number, will extra points be given for the motorcycle? Or if Trav has a truck because he needs it, and I drive a hybrid, does one cancel the other out?

Seriously. I'm wondering how you're thinking about this.

Oh! What about heating/air conditioning energy? Do I get extra points for keeping the house cool in the winter and the windows open in the summer?
